SYMBYX Neuro - Wellness devices clinically tested in a cohort of people with Parkinson's (1).
A small clinical trial tested the SYMBYX Neuro, a light therapy wellness device, as an adjunct to standard care for 40 individuals with idiopathic Parkinson's disease
over the course of 12 weeks.
Results showed that ~70% of participants who received active treatment saw moderate-large clinical improvements in all 5 MDS-UPDRS-III subscores:
- Facial Expression
- Upper Limb Movement
- Lower Limb Movement
- Gait
- Tremor
55% of participants who received a sham device (no active treatment) were considered responders, however only registered improvements in one of the five
subscores - lower limb movement.
Researchers concluded that "transcranial light therapy can meaningfully improve individual motor signs of Parkinson's if used as an adjunct therapy". Further
research is currently underway.
